Yes, you do need a visa to enter Victoria Falls. No need to arrange your visa in advance, you may purchase it upon flight arrival. The cost is $50 USD per person. Please be prepared to pay cash and in small denominations; exact change is preferred.

WHAT TO WEAR & PACK

South Africans are generally laid back when it comes to clothing, so there is no need to haul out your best silks and diamonds when heading for our shores, unless you’re attending a very prestigious event.

For summer, bring clothes that are cool, light and comfortable because summer temperatures can get well into the 30 °C range in some areas.

Also bring an umbrella or raincoat during summer as this is when most of the country gets its rain. In areas like Gauteng and the North West Province, thunder showers are common. A light jacket or wrap is a good precaution. Don’t forget a bathing suit.

The winters are generally mild, comparing favorably with European summers. But we do get some days when temperatures dive, especially in high-lying areas such as the Drakensberg, so be prepared with jerseys and jackets. Cape Town gets its rain during the winter season so it’s advisableto bring rain gear along.

Always bring a hat, sunglasses and sunblock as the sun can be strong even in the winter months.

Walking shoes are a good idea all year-round, with warm socks in the winter.

If you are doing business in the country, business attire (suit and tie) is generally called for in the corporate sector, but media, for example, generally dress more casually.

For game viewing, neutral-toned items are advised, but there’s no need to go overboard. A good pair of walking shoes is also advisable. Camouflage clothing and/or accessories are NOT acceptable.

For the evening, if you are dining at an upscale restaurant or seeing a show, smart/casual attire is recommended.

Leave some room in your suitcase for South African clothing. Information on local designers can be found on the internet. Look out for local labels like Hip Hop, Stoned Cherrie, Maya Prass, Ebok and more.

Please note that these are just suggestions and depending on the month/season travelling. Warmer clothes are required for travelling in June/July/August.

People often ask us to recommend things which we think they should bring with them when going on a safari. Through our own and previous guests experiences we have compiled a list of those items we have found to be useful and necessary

1-2 pair/s of smart/ casual trousers

2-3 pairs of shorts

4 Shirts/ T-shirts (any combination)

1 light cotton sundress for the ladies

1 pair of walking/ running shoes

1 pair of sandals/crocks, etc.

1 swim suit

1 sun hat

Sunscreen

Water bottle

Mosquito Repellent (With DEET if possible). Otherwise, you can purchase at the resort.

Light Jacket / Cardigan for the evenings (depending on the season of travel)

Our summer months are from the end of August to April with the hottest period from October to February. One should expect rain storms or drizzle on any of these days. It hardly ever rains continually though and generally the rain storms last for only an hour or so. We provide rainproof ponchos for guest to use on the vehicles during game drives and there are sufficient umbrellas for guest to use at the lodges. Our winter is from May to July with the coldest period being towards the end of June and July. We provide fleece blankets for guests to use on the vehicles during game drives.

ADDITIONAL PACKING GUIDELINES

It may at times be very cold during the early morning and during the evening safari. A warm fleece jacket, a fleece scarf and a warm hat will be needed. A warm pair of gloves may also be an added advantage.

You may also want to bring a warm track suite to wear instead of a dress or light trousers.

Try to keep the colours of your clothing as neutral as possible in order to blend in with the environment. Khaki colors and browns or greens are generally the best. Darker colors and colors that are very bright tend to attract unwanted insects such as mosquitoes and other bug type visitors.

You should bring a comfortable pair of walking shoes for use during bush walks or when off the game drive vehicle and a pair of sandals or flip-flops to wear around the lodge. Meal times are generally informal, so it is not necessary to dress up in formal clothing for dinner. If you wear prescriptions eye glasses or contact lenses it may be an idea to bring a spare pair in case yours get mislaid or broken. Also ensure that you have sufficient lens cleaning lotion as the outdoor environment may at times become extremely dusty which could require frequent cleaning.

You should also bring a video or digital camera, a good pair of binoculars, enough memory cards for your camera (or film for those who still prefer to use film) and your plug and charger for the camera equipment. Should you want to send emails or photos home to friends or family you should bring your Laptop or personal computer. We have wireless internet spots at some of our lodges. We also have a dedicated computer which is set aside for guests at all of our lodges.

All our rooms are supplied with basic amenities such as soap, shampoo and body lotions. You may however want to bring your own favourite items with you as well. We have a reasonably priced 24-hour laundry service available for guest use at all our lodges.

There are curio shops at all of our lodges so it is possible to purchase most of the items listed above should any of them be forgotten. Please travel with minimal luggage. We suggest using only ONE suitcase if possible as inter-land airlines baggage restrictions are less weight than international flights.

Terms, Conditions & General Info – Canada

Please carefully read the Terms, Conditions & General Information contained in these pages. They outline the terms under which Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited tour will operate, and they limit our liability. Payment of deposit and/or final payment is an acknowledgement of receipt of these terms & conditions and constitutes acceptance of such as outlined. Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited is an Ontario corporation located in Oakville, Ontario. Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited is registered with the travel industry Council of Ontario. Registration No 50018790.

Deposits, Payment terms, Final Payments and Reservations: A minimum deposit is due to Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited at the time of signing our Sale Agreement. The deposit may vary depending on the tour being purchased and will be reflected in our Sale Agreement. An Invoice will be forwarded to you upon receipt of your deposit. Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited provide payment terms for the remaining balance. The terms and conditions of the payment plan may vary depending on the tour being purchased and is reflected in our Sale Agreement and the Sale Obligation and Personal Pre-Authorization Agreement. Full payment of any outstanding amount is due prior to the commencement of any of our tours. The exact date on which full payment may be required may vary depending on the tour being purchased and will be reflected in our Sale Agreement. If the Sale Agreement is signed within the last 60 days of departure (and if space is still available), the entire tour price must be paid at the time of signing our Sale Agreement. Our tours tend to sell out fast, and as such, early reservations are essential to ensure availability of space.

Prices, Rates, Fares: Unless otherwise indicated, all prices shown are in Canadian Dollars and are stated per person per tour. Prices may fluctuate from time to time and may be subject to change at any time prior to departure depending on the tour being purchased. Certain tour prices do not fluctuate. Price fluctuation policies are reflected in our Sale Agreement. Airfares are not included in the quoted tour prices and any airfares which are stated are only examples and not guarantees of available airfares.

Travel Documents: All participants must be in possession of a passport valid for 6 months beyond the re-entry date into Canada. A visa or visas may be required for some or all of the countries visited on the holiday or tour selected. Please check your visa requirement/s at time of reservation. Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited will provide visa information. Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited recommends a reliable visa service that will assist in obtaining visa/s for a nominal fee/s. Non-Canadian Citizen/s may have different requirements. It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure that all his or her visa and passport requirements are met. Please note that in the event travel advisories are issued by any government or applicable authority and the tour is not cancelled by Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited, or by tour member (which will be subject to cancellation fees), the member assumes and accepts all risk of travel, related to the travel advisory or otherwise.

Tour Information: Acknowledgement of reservation will be sent immediately upon initiation of a reservation. Final tour documents (consisting of some or all of a detailed tour itinerary, hotel list, baggage tags, etc.) are dispatched from our offices approximately 21-30 days prior to departure.

Cancellations & Changes: Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited reserves the right to cancel any tour at any time, and in such event the liability of Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited is limited to the return of monies paid to it by any tour member. Cancellations by tour members are restricted. Due to the special nature of the programs and tours featured by Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited suppliers impose rigid cancellation fees; please be aware that Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited will levy a cancellation fee of 30% on all processed cancellations. All payments made to Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited are non-refundable and will be deducted from the cancellation fee. Note: All cancellations must be received by Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited in writing and shall be sent to: Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited, 1155 North Service Road West, Unit 11, Oakville ON L6M 3E3. Notice may also be sent via fax to +1289-324-9305. The reason for the cancellation must be stated in the notice, as your cancellation may be covered by your travel insurance policy if you have obtained one. To protect against cancellation charges, we strongly recommend purchasing Cancellation Protection and Travel Interruption Insurance (see Insurance clause). Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited and/or its agents are not responsible for any damage, expense or inconvenience caused by late departures, security delays, change of schedule, or other acts or conditions excluded herein.

Unused Tour Items: No refund will be made for any unused accommodations, missed meals, transportation segments, cruise portions, sightseeing tours or any other service. Such unused items are neither refundable nor exchangeable (no exceptions). If passengers do not choose a travel date or do not travel within the allotted timeframe it will be regarded as unused tour items

Insurance: Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited strongly recommends that you obtain Travel Protection Insurance, which will protect you and your investment in the event of a medical emergency before or during your trip and offers coverage for trip cancellation or interruption, government travel advisories, illness, injury, and damage, loss or theft of baggage, as well as on site emergency assistance. Such insurance is available from many sources including travel agents and other online insurance services. We also suggest that you review any existing health insurance coverage available to you to determine the level of coverage, if any, that you will have in a foreign country. Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited is not responsible for the costs of any medical treatment required during the tour, nor is Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited responsible for the quality, or lack thereof, of medical care a tour member may receive while on tour.

Health Requirements: Health regulations for some countries visited on featured tours in this brochure may require proof of inoculation and/or vaccination certificate; such a certificate should be in your possession throughout the entire tour. Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited strongly recommends that you consult with your personal physician or local travel clinic or visit the web at “Travelling Abroad – Service Canada” www.servicecanada.gc.ca in regards to your itinerary and required inoculations.

Transportation Terms:

Revision Fees: Any name change to transportation or lodging reservations (including airline tickets) including minor spelling corrections may require that such reservations be cancelled and re-booked. Tour member agrees that the names on the reservation form as given to Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited are spelled correctly per the tour member’s passports. In the event that names as listed on the form are incorrect then the tour member agrees to any expenses resulting out of the cancellation and re-booking of such transportation and lodging reservations.

In Tour Transportation: Deviations to any planned motor coach, cruise or rail itineraries are possible, although every effort will be made to keep them as they are shown. All itineraries are subject to change without notice. Should conditions render transportation routes unsafe for navigation or passage, alternative services may apply, including but not limited to, alternate lodging accommodation and/or substitute transportation arrangements.

Your Tour Price Includes:

Accommodations: Accommodations will be provided at the property specified or similar. Rooms will be assigned by the respective supplier/s in accordance with their standard policies, in category/ies as specified in the itinerary. The hotels and/or resorts featured in the itinerary will be in accordance to the level of the program – First Class, Deluxe or Luxury (this term may be defined by the hospitality industry in the region providing such accommodation or by trade custom).

Meals: Meals for each tour are included as stated on itinerary. A La Carte, buffet meals and/or table d’hôte are offered. Special meals and entertainment are included as shown in the itinerary. In some rare instances, a meal may not be of a standard expected under the term of “deluxe” particularly in remote areas. Special meal requests (including vegetarian) are not guaranteed; please identify any dietary restrictions you may have prior to departure and in writing.

Sightseeing & Land tour Services: The following services are included in your tour price: In-tour transportation, baggage handling, sightseeing with English-speaking guides (as mentioned in the itinerary) and all entrance fees to attractions visited (as described in the itinerary). Sightseeing will be via motor coach, private car and other modes of transportation (air conditioned where necessary and available), as determined by the nature of the terrain and as outlined in the itinerary. Transfers are not included when arriving or departing at the first destination gateway by means other than the scheduled tour flights, if any, but can be arranged at additional cost.

Special Entertainment: Cultural entertainment events, gala evenings and/or festivals are included as per the itinerary.

Tour Price Exclusions: Your tour price does not include: Air transportation (unless specifically stated as included); costs and fees to obtain or extend your passport/s; visa fees and processing fees; inoculations and vaccinations (if required); health certificate; airport taxes and country departure taxes (if applicable); all items of a personal nature including alcoholic beverages (except on certain occasions); meals not specified, tips to tour guides; excess baggage charges; cancellation, health, accident and baggage insurance; private, non-group transfers; and any items not specifically listed as included.

Non-refundable Air Tickets: For any departures that are not guaranteed: If you are purchasing a non-refundable air ticket, please make sure that your travel agent explains the difficulties associated with these airfares. Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited cannot be held responsible for any change/cancellation penalties associated with non-refundable airfares.

Luggage: In-tour ground travel arrangements include transportation and transfer of no more than two standard-sized suitcases per person. In-tour airline travel may restrict the size and number of luggage pieces, and/or impose additional charges which will be the responsibility of the tour member. Please be aware that airline restrictions on luggage vary by airline, location and custom in the industry, and your travel agent should provide you with all applicable regulations prior to departure. Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited will use reasonable efforts to notify you of any in-tour luggage restrictions prior to departure.

Baggage Risks: Baggage and personal effects are at owner’s risk throughout the tour and baggage insurance is strongly recommended (see insurance clause). Carrier liability for tour members’ baggage is clearly stated on the passenger contract printed on all tickets; description can also be found on carrier websites. Liability for checked and unchecked baggage shall in no event exceed the actual loss incurred by the passenger, subject to proof of the amount of loss, and Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited is in no way liable for any losses. Please read all of the conditions of your ticket. Federal law and treaties limits the amount of recovery for loss of or damage to your luggage or its contents. To protect against such limitations, we strongly recommend that you purchase insurance (see insurance clause).

Photography: Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited reserves the right to take photographs during the operation of any program and to use resulting photographs for promotional purposes. Any passengers who prefer that their images not be used are asked to notify their tour escort at the beginning of the program.

Responsibility – Limitation of Liability: Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited and all affiliates act only in the capacity as a tour retailer and arranges with third party contractors and service providers providing accommodations, transportation or other services to the tour member. Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited makes every effort to select quality suppliers of the aforementioned services. However, Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited does not control the operations of these agents and as a result, cannot be held liable for any personal injury, property damage, or other claim which may occur as the result of any and/or all of the following: (1) the wrongful, negligent or arbitrary acts or omissions on the part of the independent supplier, agent, its employees or others who are not under the direct control or supervision of Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited; (2) defects or failures of any vessel, aircraft, vehicle or other instrumentality which is under the control of an independent supplier; or (3) loss, injury or damage to person, property or otherwise, resulting directly or indirectly from any Acts of God, weather, government actions, dangers, incidents during transportation, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, or wars (whether declared or not), hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, pilferage, medical epidemics, quarantines, or customs regulations, defaults, delays or cancellations or alterations in itinerary and/or lodging due to schedule changes or capacities, or from any causes beyond Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited’s control. Further, Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from insufficient or improperly issued passports, visas or other legal documents. Regardless of anything herein to the contrary, tour members agree that maximum liquidated damages shall not exceed the tour price. In no event shall the liability of Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited exceed the actual cost of any services not provided, and Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited hereby disclaims any responsibility for revisions, substitutions, omissions which are the result of the actions or inactions of any third parties providing services or products for the applicable tour or package. The tour member further agrees that Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited shall not be liable or responsible for other consequential losses or other damages or expenses that the tour member has incurred in anticipation of or in connection with the tour.

Reservation of Rights: Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited (when deemed necessary in its sole discretion) reserves the right to: (1) cancel any itinerary or any part of it for any reason; (2) make any alterations to the itinerary (including, but not limited to, alterations or substitution of hotels); and (3) decline to accept or to retain any person as a tour member should such person’s health, mental or physical condition, in the sole opinion of Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited, impede the operation of the tour of the other passengers. Tour members may be restricted by Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited or third party services providers or applicable law or regulation from smoking, certain behaviours, photography or other actions due to cultural issues and enjoyment of the tour by other tour members. Tour members are held responsible for being in sufficient good health and capacity to undertake the tour. Persons needing individual assistance for walking, dining, or other personal needs must be accompanied by an able companion and must notify Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited in writing at the time of booking. Certain trips and features may not be wheelchair accessible. If you require a wheelchair, you must provide your own small collapsible wheelchair. In international destinations, Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited cannot guarantee wheelchair accessibility. If a tour member is asked to leave while the tour is in progress, due to any condition or action that becomes a nuisance to other tour members or detrimental to their enjoyment of the tour, that person will be responsible for charges incurred on account of such departure from the tour and/or their return to Canada. In such a case, Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited will use its best efforts to obtain a refund of any monies that can be recovered for the unused portion of the tour, taking into account additional charges incurred by Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited and cancellation or modification charges of third parties. There can be no guarantee that any such sums can be recovered or refunded. Other than to refund such sum, Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited will accept no further liability or obligation toward that person or third party.

The tour and stipulated member further agrees that Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited shall not be responsible or held liable to secure the originally intended vacation package, which in many cases may not be available or its procurement may not be practicable due to forces of nature, market factors, or other related reasons.

Venue: It is specially agreed that this agreement is entered into in Ontario, Canada. In the event any legal or equitable action is brought against Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited concerning the interpretation, enforcement or breach of any term, obligation or duty as contained or related to the terms and conditions set forth in this web site, or pursuant to law, statute or treaty to which Canada is a signatory, the venue of such action shall lie exclusively in Ontario, Canada.

Choice of Law: It is specifically agreed and stipulated that the law of the province of Ontario shall govern and apply to any legal or equitable action brought against Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited concerning the interpretation, enforcement or breach of any term, obligation or duty contained in this web site, or pursuant to any law, statute or treaty to which Canada is a signatory.

Privacy Policy: Your privacy is important to Go Touch Down Travel and Tours Limited. Your e-mail address and name, street address and telephone number are stored in our database. All payments made to Go Touch Down Express are non-refundable and will be deducted from the cancellation fee. Unused Tour Items: No refund will be made for any unused accommodations, missed meals, transportation segments, cruise portions, sightseeing tours or any other service. Such unused items are neither refundable nor exchangeable (no exceptions). If passengers do not choose a travel date or do not travel within the allotted timeframe it will be regarded as unused tour items.

Insurance: Go Touch Down Express strongly recommends that you obtain Travel Protection Insurance, which will protect you and your investment in the event of a medical emergency before or during your trip and offers coverage for trip cancellation or interruption, government travel advisories, illness, injury, and damage, loss or theft of baggage, as well as on site emergency assistance. Such insurance is available from many sources including travel agents and other online insurance services. We also suggest that you review any existing health insurance coverage available to you to determine the level of coverage, if any, that you will have in a foreign country. Go Touch Down Express is not responsible for the costs of any medical treatment required during the tour, nor is Go Touch Down Express responsible for the quality, or lack thereof, of medical care a tour member may receive while on tour.

Health Requirements: Health regulations for some countries visited on featured tours in this brochure may require proof of inoculation and/or vaccination certificate; such a certificate should be in your possession throughout the entire tour. Go Touch Down Express strongly recommends that you consult with your personal physician or local travel clinic.

Transportation Terms:

Revision Fees: Any name change to transportation or lodging reservations (including airline tickets) including minor spelling corrections may require that such reservations be cancelled and re-booked. Tour member agrees that the names on the reservation form as given to Go Touch Down Express are spelled correctly per the tour member’s passports. If names as listed on the form are incorrect then the tour member agrees to any expenses resulting out of the cancellation and re-booking of such transportation and lodging reservations.

In Tour Transportation: Deviations to any planned motor coach, cruise or rail itineraries are possible, although every effort will be made to keep them as they are shown. All itineraries are subject to change without notice. Should conditions render transportation routes unsafe for navigation or passage, alternative services may apply, including but not limited to, alternate lodging accommodation and/or substitute transportation arrangements.

Your Tour Price Includes:

Accommodations: Accommodations will be provided at the property specified or similar. Rooms will be assigned by the respective supplier/s in accordance with their standard policies, in category/ies as specified in the itinerary. The hotels and/or resorts featured in the itinerary will be in accordance to the level of the program – First Class, Deluxe or Luxury (this term may be defined by the hospitality industry in the region providing such accommodation or by trade custom).

Meals: Meals for each tour are included as stated on itinerary. Special meal requests (including vegetarian) are not guaranteed; please identify any dietary restrictions you may have prior to departure and in writing.

Sightseeing and Land Tour Services: The following services are included in your tour price: In-tour transportation, baggage handling, sightseeing with English-speaking guides (as mentioned in the itinerary) and all entrance fees to attractions visited (as described in the itinerary). Sightseeing will be via motor coach, private car and other modes of transportation (air conditioned where necessary and available), as determined by the nature of the terrain and as outlined in the itinerary. Transfers are not included when arriving or departing at the first destination gateway by means other than the scheduled tour flights, if any, but can be arranged at additional cost.

Special Entertainment: Cultural entertainment events, gala evenings and/or festivals are included as per the itinerary.

Tour Price Exclusions: Your tour price does not include: Air transportation (unless specifically stated as included); costs and fees to obtain or extend your passport/s; visa fees and processing fees; inoculations and vaccinations (if required); health certificate; airport taxes and country departure taxes (if applicable); all items of a personal nature including alcoholic beverages (except on certain occasions); meals not specified, tips to tour guides; excess baggage charges; cancellation, health, accident and baggage insurance; private, non-group transfers; and any items not specifically listed as included.

Non-refundable Air Tickets: For any departures that are not guaranteed: If you are purchasing a non-refundable air ticket, please make sure that your travel agent explains the difficulties associated with these airfares. Go Touch Down Express cannot be held responsible for any change/cancellation penalties associated with non-refundable airfares.

Luggage: In-tour ground travel arrangements include transportation and transfer of no more than two standard-sized suitcases per person. In-tour airline travel may restrict the size and number of luggage pieces, and/or impose additional charges which will be the responsibility of the tour member. Please be aware that airline restrictions on luggage vary by airline, location and custom in the industry, and your travel agent should provide you with all applicable regulations prior to departure. Go Touch Down Express will use reasonable efforts to notify you of any in-tour luggage restrictions prior to departure.

Baggage Risks: Baggage and personal effects are at owner’s risk throughout the tour and baggage insurance is strongly recommended (see insurance clause). Carrier liability for tour members’ baggage is clearly stated on the passenger contract printed on all tickets; description can also be found on carrier websites. Liability for checked and unchecked baggage shall in no event exceed the actual loss incurred by the passenger, subject to proof of the amount of loss, and Go Touch Down Express is in no way liable for any losses. Please read all the conditions of your ticket. Federal law and treaties limit the amount of recovery for loss of or damage to your luggage or its contents. To protect against such limitations, we strongly recommend that you purchase insurance (see insurance clause).

Photography: Go Touch Down Express reserves the right to take photographs during the operation of any program and to use resulting photographs for promotional purposes. Any passengers who prefer that their images not be used are asked to notify their tour escort at the beginning of the program.

Responsibility – Limitation of Liability: Go Touch Down Express act only in the capacity as a tour retailer and arranges with third party contractors and service providers providing accommodations, transportation or other services to the tour member. Go Touch Down Express makes every effort to select quality suppliers of the aforementioned services. However, Go Touch Down Express does not control the operations of these third party contractors and suppliers and as a result, cannot be held liable for any personal injury, property damage, or other claim which may occur as the result of any and/or all of the following: (1) the wrongful, negligent or arbitrary acts or omissions on the part of the independent supplier, agent, its employees or others who are not under the direct control or supervision of Go Touch Down Express; (2) defects or failures of any vessel, aircraft, vehicle or other instrumentality which is under the control of an independent supplier; or (3) loss, injury or damage to person, property or otherwise, resulting directly or indirectly from any Acts of God, weather, government actions, dangers, incidents during transportation, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, or wars (whether declared or not), hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, pilferage, medical epidemics, quarantines, or customs regulations, defaults, delays or cancellations or alterations in itinerary and/or lodging due to schedule changes or capacities, or from any causes beyond Go Touch Down Express’s control. Further, Go Touch Down Express is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from insufficient or improperly issued passports, visas or other legal documents. Regardless of anything herein to the contrary, tour members agree that maximum liquidated damages shall not exceed the tour price. In no event shall the liability of Go Touch Down Express exceed the actual cost of any services not provided and Go Touch Down Express hereby disclaims any responsibility for revisions, substitutions, omissions which are the result of the actions or inactions of any third parties providing services or products for the applicable tour or package. The tour member further agrees that Go Touch Down Express shall not be liable or responsible for other consequential losses or other damages or expenses that the tour member has incurred in anticipation of or in connection with the tour.

Reservation of Rights: Go Touch Down Express (when deemed necessary in its sole discretion) reserves the right to: (1) cancel any itinerary or any part of it for any reason; (2) make any alterations to the itinerary (including, but not limited to, alterations or substitution of hotels); and (3) decline to accept or to retain any person as a tour member should such person’s health, mental or physical condition, in the sole opinion of Go Touch Down Express, impede the operation of the tour of the other passengers. Tour members may be restricted by Go Touch Down Express or third-party services providers or applicable law or regulation from smoking, certain behaviors, photography or other actions due to cultural issues and enjoyment of the tour by other tour members. Tour members are held responsible for being in sufficient good health and capacity to undertake the tour. Persons needing individual assistance for walking, dining, or other personal needs must be accompanied by an able companion and must notify Go Touch Down Express in writing at the time of booking. Certain trips and features may not be wheelchair accessible. If you require a wheelchair, you must provide your own small collapsible wheelchair. In international destinations, Go Touch Down Express cannot guarantee wheelchair accessibility. If a tour member is asked to leave while the tour is in progress, due to any condition or action that becomes a nuisance to other tour members or detrimental to their enjoyment of the tour, that person will be responsible for charges incurred on account of such departure from the tour and/or their return to their Country of residence. In such a case, Go Touch Down Express will use its best efforts to obtain a refund of any monies that can be recovered for the unused portion of the tour, considering additional charges incurred by Go Touch Express and cancellation or modification charges of third parties. There can be no guarantee that any such sums can be recovered or refunded. Other than to refund such sum, Go Touch Down Express will accept no further liability or obligation toward that person or third party.

The first rule of malaria prevention is to avoid being bitten; that way, you will not contract malaria. The Female Anopheles Mosquito (the exclusive carrier and culprit) can bite at any time of day but is usually most active at dawn and dusk.

The Kruger National Park is one of two South African National Parks situated in malaria-risk areas. The other park is Mapungubwe National Park. It is important to note that the risk of malaria in both of these parks is usually low. The SA Minister of Health identifies the window for malaria season between September and May.

Malaria precautions include:

  • consulting with your physician on the use of prophylaxes and vaccinations.
  • the use of repellents on the skin.
  • wearing a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and a hat when outside.
  • keep window gauzes, and doors closed at all times and ensure that the chalets’ air-conditioners are fully functional.

Please note: With Go Touch Down, only one of our Safari Tours visits the Kruger National Park, and only for a one-day excursion between 9am and 3pm.

International arrivals: After collection of your baggage you will proceed through Customs and enter the International Arrivals area. You will notice a large boulder/rock with a penguin sign. Domestic arrivals: After collection of your baggage you will proceed to domestic arrivals. It is approximately 3 to 5-minute walk. South Africa is a perfect family-friendly holiday destination with much for the kids to see and do – from building sand castles on golden beaches, swimming in the ocean, taking a joy ride in a theme park, spotting wildlife on a game farm or enjoying adventure activities at one of South Africa’s many resorts.

Child-friendly facilities are found throughout South Africa.  Hotels offer inter-connecting rooms, triple bed arrangements, cots, babysitters, feeding chairs at meal times and children’s rates.  Self-catering properties are also a good option to consider, especially establishments that offer multi-roomed cottages and apartments.

During peak holiday time, when South African families take their annual breaks (April, July, and December), coastal resorts offer children’s entertainment programs, movie theatres screen the latest family-oriented movies and there are special stage shows like the annual pantomime at Jo’burg Theatre in Johannesburg.

Theme parks such as UShaka Marine World in Durban, Gold Reef City in Johannesburg and Ratanga Junction in Cape Town are great child-friendly facilities in South Africa, as is the Two Oceans Aquarium, also in the Mother City.  Sun City has restyled itself as a family-oriented resort with popular water rides at the Valley of the Waves, as well as animal attractions. Countrywide there are good zoos, bird parks, crocodile farms and reptile parks. Some of the private game lodges may not take children under a certain age, but the national parks are great for family-friendly holidays in South Africa.

If your South African sojourn includes a road trip, national routes are well supplied with ‘pit-stop’ conveniences incorporating gas stations, restaurant and restroom facilities. Family-style restaurants in South Africa are good about offering children’s menus and keeping the young ones busy with coloring books and crayons as they wait for their meals.  Baby food, milk, and nappies, are of course, plentiful in supermarkets. Children’s car seats are available from car rental companies and airlines will oblige with bassinets – both with advance notice.

Here is some general information to help you prepare for your visit to South Africa.

Please be sure to consult with your health practitioner prior to your departure for updated information and for treatment appropriate to your personal health and circumstances.

While not required, the malaria tablet is strongly recommended when visiting the Kruger Park area. Please check with your MD for your particular medicinal needs.

Currently, the only mandatory vaccine is Yellow Fever only for those travelers arriving from a country at risk for yellow fever or in transit for more than 12 hours at an airport in a country at risk for yellow fever.*
Malaria Advice for Travelers

The risk for malaria increases from September and September to May is considered the malaria season. Overall control initiatives have been very successful in the malaria transmission areas. Mostly falciparum malaria is seen. The risk remains low in KwaZulu-Natal and is confined to the very far northern KZN. There is no malaria in the Drakensberg, Hluhluwe and Umfolozi Game Parks and St Lucia areas. The risk of malaria in the Kruger National Park will increase and malaria chemoprophylaxis needs to be considered.

After periods of low rainfall, the risk of malaria at Kruger is low. In any case, it is always wise to take steps to avoid being bitten. The most vulnerable times are between dusk and dawn. People are advised to stay indoors during these periods or cover exposed skin with light clothing or insect repellents. Remember, mosquitoes find ankles quite savory.

Mozambique has year-round malaria and the risks in southern Zambia, Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls) will likewise increase. Measures to reduce mosquito bites (the malaria mosquitoes are most active from sunset to sunrise) are essential and include the application of DEET-containing insect repellents to exposed areas, wearing of long pants and socks and sleeping under a mosquito net.

Any person developing flu-like symptoms 7 to 20 days (or even longer) after being in malaria-risk areas should be tested immediately for malaria until the symptoms clear or an alternative diagnosis is made. It is important to advise medical practitioners that you have been in a malaria-risk area to avoid incorrect diagnosis.

*Should you be entering South Africa via any countries mentioned below, proof of Yellow Fever Vaccination would be required upon entry into South Africa:

  • Angola, Argentina, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Colombia, Guinea-Bissau, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, French Guyana, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guyana, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Suriname, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania and Venezuela.

Rabies, typhoid, and meningococcal vaccines are not generally recommended for the average tourist. It is essential that travelers are up to date with the standard immunizations.

Do I need a visa to travel to South Africa?

A visa may or may not be required depending upon your country of citizenship:

USA / CANADA / AUSTRALIA

A visa is not required for stays in South Africa less than 90 days. However, proof of identity and proper documentation is required for all travel. Without proper identification and documentation, an airline can deny boarding and you may not be permitted to depart. Furthermore, without proper identification and documentation, you may be denied entry.

United States of America, Canadian and Australian Citizens require a valid passport to enter South Africa when visiting less than a 90-day period and holding proof of an onward ticket. The passport must be valid for more than six months after the intended return date to the USA, Canada or Australia. More than a 90-day visit will require a visa.

Your United States, Canadian or Australian passport must have a minimum of two completely blank pages labeled “visa” for the visa issuance by immigration offices upon arrival in South Africa. These two blank pages must face each other so the entry stamp can be placed on one page and the exit stamp on the page it faces.

No advance visa is required for United States, Canadian or Australian passport holders when traveling to South Africa for tourist purposes. Please note that immigration officers hold the right to deny entry to any traveler.

INDONESIA

A South African Visitor Visa application must be submitted prior to traveling to South Africa. A Visitor Visa in South Africa allows a non-visa exempt foreign national to visit the country for tourism purposes and needs to be applied for prior to arrival in South Africa. The Visitor Visa for South Africa also covers many subsets such as the long stay Visitor Visa, the Visitor Visa with spouse and Visitor Visa with children.

THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS APPLY TO ALL TRAVELERS TO SOUTH AFRICA

If traveling with children under the age of 18, please note that in addition to their passport, immigration also requires the original unabridged birth certificate regardless of the relationship of the minor to the traveling companions. If the minor is traveling without both parents, a power of attorney is required. Please contact the consulate for all details prior to travel or visit the South African Department of Home Affairs.

Without proper documentation, entry will not be granted.

NOTE: If you are traveling to other countries in Southern Africa, additional blank pages are required.

For Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe or Zambia, you will require two more blank pages facing each other.

The visa fee for valid for entry into Zimbabwe and Zambia is US $50 per person, payable in cash upon arrival at immigration in Victoria Falls.

Please note: The charge card machines are not always operational. We recommend having the US $50 per person in cash prior to arrival.

Please check with your local health clinic for any vaccinations required. No inoculations are required currently for entering South Africa from non-yellow fever countries. We recommend the malaria tablet while you are in the Kruger National Park; however, it is not mandatory. Please speak with a Doctor before taking any medication.

Please note that baggage allowances vary with airlines, and airlines are free to revise luggage policies without notice. It is the responsibility of the guest to research and comply with luggage allowances for each airline on the flight itinerary.

Size and Weight Restrictions

International Flights

Carry-on bags must:

  • Not exceed 45 inches (length + width + height), or 115 cm.
  • Fit easily in our SizeCheck® unit (approximately 22″ x 14″ x 9″, or 56 x 36 x 23 cm).
  • Fit in an overhead bin or underneath the seat in front of you.
  • If your carry-on bag doesn’t meet these size restrictions it must be checked, and all checked baggage rules will apply.

To avoid extra charges for oversize or overweight baggage on international flights, your checked bag must:

  • Weigh 50 pounds (23 kg) or less.
  • Not exceed 62 inches (157 cm) when you total length + width + height

Special Items

Each special item you’re checking counts as one bag. When checking in online, you don’t have to tell us what the special item is—only that you have one. An agent will determine any possible charges for your special item when you bring it to the baggage drop. Special Items Include:

  • Overweight bags – bags over 50 lbs.
  • Oversize bags – bags over 62 inches(when you total the length + width + height)
  • Infant and children items – stroller, child restraint seats
  • Assistive devices – wheelchair
  • Sports equipment – bicycle, bowling, fishing or ski equipment, parachute, surfboard, windsurf board, scuba tank

Domestic Flights

For flights within South Africa, the weight limit for your checked bag is 44 pounds (20 kg).
Any additional checked bags will require a fee.
